Playing a round of golf is an excellent way to relax, and keep fit at the same time. No matter where you live, you should be able to gain access to a golf course fairly easily. The variety of courses available is pretty large; putting green, pitch and putt, driving ranges, and full size courses. If you’re a pitch and putt/approach course kind of fellow, you will be used to walking about two thousand meters for a full eighteen hole course. This kind of distance is within most of our physical capabilities. However, a full size course can be over six kilometers and often a lot further; this is a serious amount of walking for a ‘relaxing’ day out! Another factor you will need to consider is the golfing equipment you need to play the game, namely golf clubs. These are heavy and often cumbersome, even when you have a decent set of wheels to help you out. There is an easier option, and this should be considered carefully – motorized golf carts.
Not just for the elderly.
Motorized buggies are often associated with the elderly and those of us unable to walk due to physical limitations. This is a common misnomer. It’s a fairly strenuous sport on occasions, so why risk running out of gas before you have the chance to drive that little white ball three hundred meters?
For all weather.
Unless you are fortunate enough to live in a perfect climate, if one exists, then you will sometimes have to do battle with the environment, as well as your golfing buddies; this is not always fun. Who enjoys being drenched to the bones when you are supposed to be having fun? There are waterproof outfits available, but even these have their limits. An all-weather motorized buggy will provide sufficient protection for the inevitable summer downpours.
How do they work?
The motorized golf cart is usually powered by a tiny electrical engine, sometimes a petrol engine is utilized, and the small engine means that you will not be in danger of breaking any speed records. They are very compact; this allows you to drive pretty much anywhere you need on the golf course.
When you have decided to splash out on this seemingly luxury option, choose wisely and you will not regret it. The bigger courses will have their own rental fleet available for the discerning golfer, but smaller, less prosperous outfits will probably not. Most buggies are built for two golfers. However larger models are available, and these can carry four adults and their all-important clubs. If the buggy was any larger, it would be extremely difficult to access that ball deep in the rough.
How much? – share the cost
As with all modern conveniences, you will get what you pay for. Celebrity golfers and the tycoons out there can have a buggy designed from scratch, to their exact specifications. These often resemble a hot rod racer more so than a humble golf cart. Choose a cart that is within your budget, if you regularly play in a foursome, why not share the cost? Compare the outlay with rental, and if you play regularly, you will soon make that difference back.
